Sharpening the axe

It’s not enough to look shiny and luxury, the hardware must meet our high demands as well. We are avid bike riders and know what makes a mountain bike really great. Only long term riding brings out the real flavour of the bike.

We want to build a bike that is not just a bulk of fancy promises but one that actually work the way it is stated. As our newest creation is ready to go and it was time to beat the hell out of it and see if it bears it. Arctic climate, tough hillclimbs, tropical heat – we must test whether the machine that is almost perfect on paper can really perform.

Arctic climate: Check! (batteries performed better than we expected – we were a bit afraid that the lithium-polymer cells will fail around 0 degree Celsius – but no worries anymore)

Tough hillclimbs: Check! 2 hours of constant climbing (in still pretty cold!)

And this is only the start… Things will get more extreme – keep tuned.

The Biceps

Biceps – the symbol of srength, manliness and reliability. Mother nature designed it for thousands of years – it’s proved. Our evil-genius engineers had an idea some months ago: why not utilize this knowledge in our bike?

Mimicry.

We decided to push the edge of bicycle suspension design a bit further and bulid a custom front suspension unit that is at least as extraordinary as the “torso” of the Beast.

Enters the Biceps

Our newest creation is a one-sided, asymetrical front-suspension structure tailored to the special requirements of e-bike performance.

- Spring and damping is delivered by the best of the industry Fox Racing Shocks, more precisely their MXR Float shock.
- The unit is connected to the arms with sealed cartridge bearings.
- This is a 7075 T6 aluminum biceps – light and strong – machined by CNC with a hint of carbon-fiber on it’s outer side.
- We use 1.5 Inch steerers for monster strength.
- The Biceps provides 160 mm of buttery-smooth travel to make the ride more fabulous.

Different biceps strength for different people: air chamber pressure can be set-up with shock pump, compression characteristics can be modified by air-chamber size and rebound can also be customized for individual taste.

Power is nothing without control so we integrated our favourite Brembo brake calliper into the Biceps so it can barely be seen and the brake hose is also routed internally for a nice clean look. Due to the nature of our the special design, the Biceps requires asymetrical wheel-hub with self-removing screw-nut.

Exceptional strength, genuine design and the finest materials. This is the Biceps – a new M55 creation.

Goodbye 2010, welcome ’11!

It’s great to look back and review the year – especially if it has been  full of great moments and apprecitiation. Our masterpiece, the Beast has been a big success though it is not even available for purchase. The feedback at Eurobike show and the SEMA clearly showed that we are definitely on the right track. There are few details that has to be refined but soon we are ready for the commercial launch.

For 2011 expect some big suprises from M55 Bikes and of course the two new models – The Daemon and The Shadow, so it’s worth to keep your eyes on the M55Blog in 2011 too.

Vegas, Monaco and a Shadow

A lot has happened in the past few weeks, here is the update:

Vegas, SEMA show

We hoped but didn’t expect such appreciation. Tonns of kind words and really positive feedback. Only the price made some scratching their head but when all the tiny fine details were revealed most of them converted to the M55 faith.

The evening before the first day we decided to cruise down the famous Las Vegas Boulevard – The Strip and see how can we ride down till the New York New York among the limousines unnoticed. We couldn’t. You should see the faces of the gangsta dudes sitting in their pimped out lowrider at one red light. It was a huge fun and a stylish way to do the sightseeing.

The next big announcement is that we fixed our next big appeareance: The Top Marques Monaco in April 14-17th next year. If you’ve ever heard of this fair, you know that this is a higher level… This is the most traditional and prestigeous luxury fair in Europe. But not only the destination what makes this show exciting but the fact that we plan to reveal our new urban cruiser model, the Daemon. And…

…a third one, the younger brother of the mighty Beast - the Shadow.

A unique preimere at a truly unique venue: Monte Carlo.

More details are comming…

The Beast has landed.

… at least half of the “wolfpack”. The white prince is still in the labyrinths of either Detroit airport or at Vegas’. But don’t worry, the rescue mission is on!

One Beast will be ready very soon for a photoshoot/videoshoot on The Strip. Will be fun for sure – expecting some eyeballs :)

Our new HQ is ready to rock!

Our new headquarter, „the Lab” is getting ready for building the most sophisticated hybrid bikes on the planet and some other crazy innovations but don’t run that far…

The M55 philosophy is echoed by this pretty modern, passive building. It is situated near Budapest but within a spitting distance from mother nature, the Pilis mountains, which is our primary „testing facility” – basically ont he doorway.

We care about nature. Environmentalism has always been our lybling and so as technical sophistication, that’s why our hq uses several features (solar collectors, excellent isolation etc.) to reduce ecological footprint as much as possible. The simple outfit hides a high-tech office on the first floor and a construction yard on the ground level – that’s where the Beasts come alive.

More pics and details are comming soon!

M55 on podium – ok, sort of… :)

We proudly present the fact that Megyeri “M55″ Mate aka triple M reached the top of the podium this weekend at the 8th round of Hungarian National Slalom Cup.

This is serious.
As a matter of fact it was not a bike race but a crazy slalom race for custom pimped cars. Mate dominated the grand prix with a legendary Polski Fiat 126 that used the engine ignitor of an IL-18 Soviet aeroplane and was constructed by our engineer so it was a real M55 cooperation :)

Ohh, fyi the unique paintjob was delivered by a bunch of shcoolkids.
